Adult day care: it's more than just an overblown joke on ??? ??Twitter.

On Oct. 8, Republican Sen. Bob Corker, who campaigned for Trump, was absolved of his sins and anointed a #Resistance saint after he semi-jokingly suggested that President Trump belonged in an adult day care. The joke is ongoing: on Tuesday, Corker tweeted to #AlertTheDaycareStaff because "the untruthful president" was lying again.

Yet neither Corker nor President Trump seem to recognize the obvious: Trump's record of oppositional behavior would likely disqualify him from participating in an *actual* adult day care program. And the pair has something in common: both Trump and the senator have both worked to dramatically reduce the funding that make adult day care centers possible in the first place.

Adult day cares serve seniors, typically 60 and older, who either: have a disability, are physically frail, or live with dementia and Alzheimer's. The goal behind these centers is to provide caregivers with respite and seniors with socialization, therapy and heath-related services.

Typical activities at a day care center include anything from medical care to pet therapy to center-wide field trips. Seniors are engaged in pro-social forms of recreation (ie: not watching DVR'd episodes of Fox and Friends).

There are an estimated 5,686 adult day services the United States.

Trump, who is 71, seems like an easy fit for adult day care: not only is he of the age, multiple critics and associates have long suspected the president of struggling with dementia. His cognitive capacity and speaking style has declined, leading some psychologists to believe that Trump's brain has "deteriorated" over the years.

Here's the problem: in order to qualify for services, Trump would have to consent to going to them in the first place. The President can't be forced to go to an adult day care, and as someone who identifies as one of the "smartest people in the world" and has challenged his Secretary of State to an IQ test, he doesn't seem like he'd be amenable.

Secondly, Trump would very likely need some kind of professional assessment in order to qualify for services. This, let's recall, is Trump's doctor, who once predicted that Trump would be the "healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency."

This is all assuming, of course, that adult day care centers would actually let Trump participate. Though eligibility varies by center, day care centers typically won't accept potential clients who physically or verbally abusive.

Over the course of the past six months, Trump has: threatened to obliterate an entire country, physically mocked a man who has polio, accused a prominent journalist of bleeding from her face, called a mayor in crisis "Nasty," bullied a veteran for having the audacity to vote against him, and has committed so many bad, depressing deeds I've lost the ability to remember them.

Given Trump's penchant for "grabbing women by the pussy," it's unlikely the therapeutic adult day care centers would want him involved in their services.

There's also a question of how many of these centers will continue to exist if the Affordable Care Act is successfully repealed. Adult day care is typically paid for either out of pocket or with some combination of Medicaid, long term insurance, or a Veteran's Affairs policy. States will either offer HCBS Medicaid waivers or 1915 waivers that allow people to access therapeutic services while continuing to live in their own.

Graham-Cassidy, which Trump was prepared to sign and Corker voted yes on, would have made HCBS-funded programs "vulnerable to deep cuts." The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities warned that, threatened with a loss in Federal Medicaid funding, "states would likely curtail these services."

Translation: Corker couldn't even send Trump to *actual* adult day care even if he was joking. The Senator was fully prepared to sign a bill that would have (partially at least) defunded.

For now, we'll have to rely on the Babysitter's Club to watch over little Donnie: Secretary of State Tillerson, General Kelly, and Defense Secretary Mattis. If he's good, maybe they'll even give him a second scoop of ice cream.
