Listen, the news cycle is bleak and things have been dark for the the LGBTQ community for a long, long time. So forgive the community if we got a little too excited this week when queer icons Cher and Meryl Streep exchanged a smooch at the Mamma Miapremiere.
It was everyone's awkward celebrity fantasy come true.

There's a lot of awful stuff happening to the queer community right now. Trans students' rights are in jeopardy. Hate crimes are up. Some LGBTQ activists even worry for the future of same-sex marriage in the U.S.
It would be great if we had leadership that actually protected and expanded the community's rights, but until then, we'll have this moment tattooed to our tender queer hearts.
