This does not disable the background app that invoked the Dynamic Island. For example, if you do this while Apple Music is playing a song, the song will continue playing, but it will no longer show up in the Dynamic Island. The downside to this is that, once you've swiped left or right on the Dynamic Island, it really turns off for that particular task, meaning that tapping on the Dynamic Island won't bring Apple Music back anymore.
